2 ATTF cadres surrender with arms
Two ATTF cadres yielded to the BSF personnel today with quite a big booty of arms and ammunitions.
Makan Rai Reang alias Laisa, son of Danya Ram Reang, a resident of the Kurma village under Amarpur sub-division, and Mangal Debbarma alias Morong alias Topten, erstwhile resident of the Belbari locality under the Jirania Block area surrendered to Sh Malkiat Singh, Commandant, 61 Bn BSF this morning, said an official release of the Frontier Headquarter of the BSF, Salbagan.
The surrendered militants also deposited one AK 56 rifle, three AK magazines, 75 live rounds of Kalashnikov Assault rifle and nine rounds of 9 mm pistol to the BSF personnel.
On preliminary interrogation, the returnees confessed that they had joined the ATTF outfit in 2004. They also revealed that Mangal alias Topten had participated in encounters against the security forces in Radha Charan Para at Jirania which had left two Assam Rifles jawans dead. He also confessed about being an active participant in the money extortion bid which the militant outfits of the state had been practicing for so long. It has also been disclosed that they used to stay at the Shatcherry (Parakatal) ATTF camp before they had escaped the clutches of the ATTF brand-name and had come to the BSF to surrender. The returnees said that most of the militants of the ATTF camps are simply waiting for an apt chance to return to the mainstream since the craze of militancy is almost over owing to the nonchalant attitude of the leaders of the militant groups at Bangladesh and the hardships the cadres are facing day in and day out here. Further information about the strength of the ATTF cadres in the state, their whereabouts and the other details of the terrorist outfit are awaited.
